At The Jordan Insurance Agency in Charlotte, North Carolina, we help individuals and families enroll in Affordable Care Act (ACA) Marketplace coverage. Whether you are self-employed, between jobs orhave never purchased your own health insurance before, we explain your options and handle the enrollment process so you get coverage that fits your budget. All ACA plans include 10 essential health benefits such as outpatient and hospital care, maternity and newborn care, mental health services, prescription drugs and preventive services. In addition, Marketplace plans must cover treatment for pre-existing conditions and cannot charge you more or refuse to pay benefits based on your medical history.
Essential health benefits — every ACA Marketplace plan covers hospitalization, emergency services, maternity and newborn care, mental health and substance abuse services, prescription drugs, rehabilitative therapies, lab services, preventive care and pediatric dental/vision.
No discrimination for pre-existing conditions — insurers cannot deny coverage or raise your rates because of a past or current health condition.
Tax credits and cost savings — if your household income is between 100% and 400% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL), you may qualify for a premium tax credit that lowers your monthly cost. Cost-sharing reductions may further reduce deductibles and co-pays for those with incomes below 250% of FPL.
Open enrollment — for the 2026 plan year, you can enroll or change plans from November 1, 2025 through January 15, 2026 in most states. Outside that window, you must qualify for a special enrollment period (life events like moving, marriage or loss of other coverage).
When can I sign up for health insurance?
Open enrollment for ACA Marketplace plans typically runs November 1 through January 15. For the 2026 plan year, enrollment is open from November 1, 2025 through January 15, 2026. If you have a qualifying event (like losing employer coverage, moving or having a baby) you can enroll during a special enrollment period.
Will pre-existing conditions be covered?
Yes. All Marketplace plans must cover treatment for pre-existing conditions and cannot charge you more or deny coverage because of your health history.
Can I get financial help?
Most people qualify for savings. Households with incomes between 100% and 400% of the Federal Poverty Level may receive premium tax credits to lower monthly premiums, and those under 250% FPL may receive cost-sharing reductions.
