Serving Indian Land, SC · Lancaster County
If your mail says Fort Mill but you live in Indian Land, there is one thing worth knowing before you choose anything: Indian Land is in Lancaster County, and Medicare goes by county, not by postal town. The Jordan Insurance Agency is licensed in South Carolina and checks your actual address before recommending a single option.

Why the help matters
An Indian Land mailing address may list Fort Mill as the postal town, but that does not settle the county question. Medicare Advantage and Part D availability is arranged by county, and Indian Land sits in Lancaster County while Fort Mill proper is York. Two neighbours on the same road can share a postal town and be choosing from different lists. That is why the county must be verified separately before the comparison starts.

Who this page is for
Start here. Medicare uses your county, and yours is Lancaster. It is worth two minutes to confirm before you compare anything.
Where to start →Your window opens three months before your birthday month. We’ll show you what has to happen inside it and what can wait.
Where to start →A great many Indian Land residents did. Moving can change what you are eligible to choose, so bring your current plan and we’ll look at it.
Where to start →Whether you can delay Part B safely turns on your employer’s plan, not on which state you sleep in. Worth confirming.
Where to start →Coverage changes year to year, and so do your prescriptions and your doctors. An annual look costs you nothing.
Where to start →Adult children handle a lot of these calls. With your parent’s permission you’re welcome to sit in and ask the questions.
Where to start →The one thing to get right first
Medicare Advantage and Part D availability is set county by county. Indian Land is in Lancaster County, South Carolina — not York County, and not Mecklenburg. Because much of the area carries Fort Mill mailing addresses, people routinely compare plans against the wrong list, or assume a neighbour’s choice is available to them when it is not. We start every Indian Land conversation by confirming the actual address, because everything downstream depends on it.
The decisions, one at a time
There is no single “best” path through Medicare. What fits depends on your doctors, your prescriptions, how much you travel, and what you want your costs to look like. Here is how we work through each piece.
Your Initial Enrollment Period generally runs seven months — the three months before your birthday month, your birthday month, and the three after. Two things catch people out. Enrollment is not always automatic: if you’re receiving Social Security benefits at least four months before you turn 65, Medicare generally enrolls you in Part A and Part B for you, and otherwise you usually have to act. And waiting until the birthday month itself can push your start date later than you expected.
Come with the doctors you intend to keep, your prescriptions with doses, and whether you or your spouse are still working. More on timing in our guide to when you can enroll in Medicare.
Whether you can delay Part B without a late-enrollment penalty depends on your specific situation, including whether you have group health coverage based on your own or your spouse’s current employment. Employer size can also affect how Medicare coordinates with that coverage, so we check the details before you decide.
A lot of Indian Land residents commute north or retired out of an employer plan elsewhere. Either way, losing that coverage generally opens a Special Enrollment Period, and it does not stay open indefinitely. Plan it a month or two before your last day. Our write-up on working past 65 covers how the two fit together.
Three questions come up constantly: when should Part B start, can I delay it while I’m working, and what happens the month employer coverage ends. We push people to ask early because the Part B late enrollment penalty, once it attaches, generally stays with you for as long as you have Part B. It is not a one-time fee.
Background if you want it first: the late enrollment penalty and how Medicare works alongside employer coverage.
Drug coverage is its own decision with its own timing. Going without creditable prescription drug coverage after you are first eligible can bring a late-enrollment penalty of its own, which is why “I don’t take anything right now” is not quite the whole answer.
Part D is arranged county by county like Advantage, so this is another place the Lancaster-versus-York distinction shows up. Bring the actual prescription list, names and doses. Here is how Part D works.
A supplement works alongside Original Medicare and helps with costs Original Medicare leaves behind. In South Carolina, Medigap plans are standardized by letter, so the basic benefits for a given plan letter are the same from one insurer to the next. Premiums, underwriting, discounts and company service can still differ — which is where the comparison actually happens.
Supplements come up a lot in this corridor for a practical reason: because they work alongside Original Medicare rather than through a network, they are less sensitive to county boundaries and state lines than an Advantage plan is. For someone whose doctors are scattered between Indian Land, Fort Mill and Charlotte, that is a real consideration — though not automatically the right answer. Background: what a Medicare Supplement is.
Medicare Advantage is another way to receive your Medicare-covered benefits, usually built around a network. Two things have to line up: the plan has to be offered in your county, and the doctors you want to keep have to participate. For Indian Land, the county question is the one people get wrong, because Lancaster County’s list is not York County’s.
The network question is its own puzzle here. Indian Land sits between hospital systems rather than next to one — Piedmont Medical Network serves the corridor from Rock Hill and Fort Mill and has announced a freestanding emergency department for Indian Land, while a lot of residents use Charlotte providers a few minutes north. If your care is spread across the state line, flag it early. Neither Advantage nor a Supplement is automatically right.

Why work with us
Before anything else. With Fort Mill mailing addresses this common, it is the step that prevents a wasted comparison.
Not a North Carolina agency guessing across the line. We are licensed here and work this corridor regularly.
A person with a name and a direct number. The same person next year, when your prescriptions or your doctors have changed.
Enrollment is the easy part. The value shows up in March when a pharmacy says something unexpected and you need a real person.
Indian Land service area
The Jordan Insurance Agency helps Medicare clients throughout Indian Land and Lancaster County, South Carolina. This is the corridor where county and postal town diverge most: Indian Land is Lancaster, Fort Mill and Tega Cay are York, and Ballantyne and Waxhaw are across the state line in North Carolina. Three different Medicare lists within a few minutes’ drive. We verify against your actual address, not your mailing address.
Three ways to do this
Many clients choose this. One call, your doctor and prescription list in front of you, and we work through it together.
Useful when an adult child wants to sit in from out of town. We can share a screen and walk through the comparison as we go.
Our Charlotte office on Toringdon Way sits just north of the state line, so it is one of the shorter drives any of our clients make. Appointments preferred.
The Jordan Insurance Agency does not maintain an office in Indian Land. Our licensed agents serve Indian Land Medicare clients by phone, by video, and in person from the Charlotte office above.

Good to know
Probably not. Much of Indian Land carries a Fort Mill mailing address while sitting in Lancaster County, and Medicare uses your county rather than your postal town. Fort Mill proper is York County. The two have different Medicare Advantage and Part D lists, so it is worth confirming before you compare anything.
Yes. We are licensed in South Carolina and work with Medicare clients throughout Indian Land and Lancaster County. We don’t maintain an office in Indian Land — we handle it by phone, by video, and in person at our Charlotte office, which is just north of the state line.
Only if it is offered in your county. On this stretch that is a genuine question rather than a formality, because neighbours a short drive apart can be in Lancaster County, York County, or across the line in North Carolina. Tell us what they chose and we will check whether it is on your list.
It can. Indian Land sits between systems rather than beside one, and many residents use providers in Fort Mill, Rock Hill or Charlotte. If your doctors are spread out, say so early — network-based plans are more sensitive to that than a supplement is, and it is one of the trade-offs we lay out.
It can. Moving affects what you are eligible to choose and sometimes opens an enrollment opportunity. Bring your current plan documents and your new address and we will work out where you actually stand.
They’re structured differently. A Supplement works alongside Original Medicare and helps with costs it leaves behind. Medicare Advantage is another way to receive your Medicare-covered benefits, usually through a network. Neither is universally better — the right fit depends on your doctors, your prescriptions, your travel, and how you want your costs to feel.
The Jordan Insurance Agency does not charge a separate consultation fee for this Medicare plan review. If you enroll through us, an insurance company may compensate the agency.
People use all three words, and here they lead to the same place. Legally, we are licensed insurance agents. Because we are independent, many people call us a Medicare broker; and because most of what we do is help you think the decision through in plain English, others call us a Medicare advisor. Whichever term you searched, you reach the same licensed, local team — at no cost to you.
